Jangsa House

Status- Unbuilt, 2011

Location- Paro, Bhutan

This was a small, budget renovation for event manager and journalist and their young son. The house was a 2 bedroom Duplex, that needed update more than anything else, and also a maximising of storage space.

There was also a need for creative and artistic expression, which brought in the wood and bamboo elements that were nostalgia for them as it reminded them of home in Assam and Meghalaya.

Most of the design revolved around very pragmatic ideas to save space, and minimal intervention and also budget oriented decisions .

The high point of the project was the Bamboo Chandelier, that hangs above the staircase to the upper floor bedroom, that brings a sense of excitement and play when light passes through it and filters into the dining area.
